Not much of a talker — but the dry dad humor shows up exactly when a crew needs it. On his belt hangs a patched teddy bear. Nobody asks; everybody knows.

Hawke's right hand and the backbone of the crew. A master machinist in his sixties who teaches with his hands, not his mouth. His battered notebook holds diagrams and two-line aphorisms: "Metal remembers heat."

Warm, cocky, and dangerously smart — a people-first scientist whose micro-climate forecasts keep whole neighborhoods standing. Big family, bigger heart, sharpest tongue on the crew.

Fast, funny, brilliant with radios. She turns ruined sites into treasure maps and narrates them in rapid-fire quips. The only person alive who can reliably make Hawke grin.
